The Forge Has Had a Busy Week

The Forge Restaurant has had a busy celebrity week. First for Valentine’s Day the New York Giant’s own  Jason Pierre-Paul spent a very romantic evening at The Forge with his girlfriend sharing the special Valentine’s Day menu and champagne. Also seen at The Forge: Don Shula.

Last Friday Michael Jordan,  joined by his finacée Yvette Prieto celebrated his 49th birthday at The Forge. Thinking that this was going to be a quiet romantic dinner he was surprised later on in the evening by thirty of his friends including Ahmad Rashad and Derek Jeter. For the grand finale Paula Abdul sang for Michael Jordan Happy Birthday as the cake was being served. Another surprise followed,  when Ms. Abdul escorted Shareef Malnik, the owner of The Forge back to his table and also sang to him a Happy Birthday.

Miami’s Hot New Food Trends

without comments

Things are changing in the food industry. People would like  to see natural locally grown or raised on their plates. They want to eat healthier to be healthier. They want to know where the food they are eating comes from. If you look in the more elegant supermarkets you will see more and more organic selections and more gluten free selections being made available to the client.  In Ocean Drive Magazine, Top Chef’s Gail Simmons talks about the new trends in cuisine.  The Forge’s top chef Dewey LoSasso states in the beginning of this article: “People want more health benefits out of what they eat, and pastas, especially, will get a makeover.”  I can’t wait to taste his new creations. If anyone in Miami can contribute to the development of new tastes and trends it is definitely Dewey LoSasso of The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar.

This year it is The Forge’s Chef Dewey LoSasso that is heading the Jury. They have narrowed down the 1850 entries to 5 Chefs and 5 Bartenders. On March 9th the winners will be announced. Invention is a very important aspect of this industry, whether it is a corner sandwich shop or a 5 star environment. The clientele today is always looking for new and better and as we develop as a civilization our knowledge and desire for new tastes shift and change.
