Shareef Malnik, the owner of The Forge Restaurant and his girlfriend Burn Notice star Gabrielle Anwar hosted the pre-Make a Wish Foundation Ball dinner at The Forge. It was a busy night as there were other celebrities in the house.

The InterContinental Miami hosted the annual kick off event for the Miami Make-A-Wish Ball; more than 200 of South Florida’s leading philanthropists attended, celebrating a 17 year proven track record of extraordinary fundraising success. The Ball is slated for November 3 2012 and will be India-themed.

The Make A Wish Foundation has been active since 1980. It has a spectacular mission: that of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.  The Foundation makes life-changing commitments of hope to these children often on the last leg of their life’s journey. On Saturday November 5, 2011 the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida and InterContinental Miami celebrated the 17thAnnual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball. Truman Capote’s phenomenal Black & White ball was the theme.  Shareef Malnik, the owner of The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar was the chairman of the Ball, with Rock and Roll icon Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as the entertainment and Gabrielle Anwar as the celebrity Auctioneer, the Ball was greater than the expectations.

With veteran Rocker Joan Jett the Foundation reached it’s goal of raising over $ 10 million dollars in it’s seventeen year history. Everyone had a fabulous evening.

Before the 17th annual Intercontinental Miami Make A Wish Ball, the Ball Chairman Shareef Malnik hosted a private dinner at the Forge for the foundation’s key benefactors and supporters in the company of celebrity Rock and Roll entertainer Joan Jett and celebrity auctioneer Gabrielle Anwar.

The Forge, 432 41st St., Miami Beach, hosts the 13th annual Pleasures of the Palate, a fundraiser for the Diabetes Research Institute, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Chef Dewey LoSasso’s four-course meal stars pan-seared filet mignon with red wine reduction and fava bean mash.
